Aero Empire

Aerosphere Studios - Cumulonimbus Engine - Coming late 2010 / early 2011

Imagine a world where the villages of humans were scattered along mountaintops, and the world below was completely blocked off by an impassible wall of clouds. In a world like that, air travel would precede both land and sea. This is the kind of world that Aero Empire is set in. In this world, the player can rise the ranks, from a lowly gunner manning a turret aboard an airship, to the commander of a nation, controlling the tides of war and the armies of that nation. With the ability to talk to and influence your fellow coworkers and superiors, you can also perform a rebellion or coup d'etat, breaking free and taking control of your own nation. Aero Empire is a cross genre game, incorporating elements of role playing games, shooters, flight simulators, real time strategy and tactics. The world is populated with thousands of AI with their own desires and personalities, creating a dynamic and ever changing world.

Promotions and Demotions

A good superior always keeps an eye out for new talent. If a superior recognizes your skills, they can offer you a post under them. This post can have better benefits and pay than your previous post – as well as more responsibility and power. This is called a promotion.

Additionally, if you fail missions, destroy equipment, or rebel against orders, a superior may decide to reduce your position, pay or even fire you from your post. This is called a demotion.

A list of available positions can also be found in towns. You can apply for a position on another airship at any time. If you are fired from a previous post, or are unsatisfied with your current post, you can find a new post this way. You could even try to find a post in another nation (at the cost of potentially severing ties with your current nation). Additionally, you can converse with superiors and attempt to persuade them to give you a promotion or transfer you to their airship. However, if your credentials are too low, you may not even be able to get an audience with the superior.

If you are in charge of an airship or fleet, you can also add position requests to the town lists and view applications for those positions from NPCs and other players. This is useful if you fire a previous subordinate, or are in charge of a new ship that has not been assigned a crew yet. Additionally, you can promote and demote your subordinates and offer positions to others just as NPC superiors can.
